Ikshvaku Maharaja, the son of the solar deity Vivasvan, is revered as the founder of the Ikshvaku dynasty (Suryavansha). According to Vishnu Purāṇa, he was a valiant and righteous king whose governance laid the foundation for dharmic rule in Treta Yuga. His lineage eventually led to Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu.


Ikshvaku ascended the throne of the Solar dynasty and became a legendary ruler known for his courage, wisdom, and devotion to dharma. He established law, order, and prosperity in his kingdom, ensuring the welfare of his people. Ikshvaku fought evil kings and adversaries who threatened his realm, securing peace and stability.

He was a patron of sages and supported spiritual practices, ensuring that righteousness (dharma) guided all aspects of his kingdom. His rule is remembered as an ideal model for kings and rulers in Hindu tradition.
